Basketball Recap: Greeley West Spartans vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
Greeley West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Mountain View Mountain Lions 95-44. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mountain Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Tonniges, who went 9 of 13 en route to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Tonniges a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Strom, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals.
Greeley West's record now sits at 0-4. As for Mountain View, they moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Greeley West will be playing in front of their home fans against Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-67 victory against Timnath on the 17th.
