If Laguna Acoma was riding high fresh off their 10-1 takedown of Tohatchi last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Grants Pirates by a score of 10-8 on Monday. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Jazmyne Carrillo stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciandra Lucero, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Laguna Acoma's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Grants, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grants beat Laguna Acoma by a score of 14-5 later that day.
