Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Vista Grande Spartans

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Vista Grande. The Mountain Lions will be playing at home against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Mountain View's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Vista Grande. The win continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

Arianna Figueroa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Figueroa was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Danika Stoddard was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Samantha Blasko was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista Grande only posted an OBP of .062.

Vista Grande's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Vista Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
