Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Huntley's Winning Streak

Huntley dropped their record down to 19-15 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-4 defeat last Friday.

As for Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-16. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Central's part, they got a great performance from Jack Person as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Person has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Central's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Finn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. Another was Thomas Koertgen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Huntley and Central are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Red Raiders will challenge Guilford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.39 runs per game on average), something Huntley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central, they will square off against Rochelle at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
