Baseball Recap: Flatirons Academy Has No Trouble Against Caliche

Flatirons Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Caliche Buffaloes on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won 11 matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Mateo Pope made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Dillon Sauer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Flatirons Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caliche only posted an OBP of .222.

Flatirons Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Caliche, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

As of now, neither Flatirons Academy nor the Buffaloes have any future games scheduled.
