Football Recap: Independence Has No Trouble Against Eastmoor Academy

Independence lost to Eastmoor Academy back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The 76ers blew past the Warriors 52-32. Considering the 76ers have won three contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Independence had a senior duo take command as Gabriel Ogbara rushed for 339 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry and Darren White-Tyler gained 222 total yards and five touchdowns. White-Tyler also rushed for 178 rushing yards, which is notable because the 76ers are undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

Independence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 560 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Independence is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points over those games. As for Eastmoor Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Independence has already played their next game (against Walnut Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Eastmoor Academy, they will take on Africentric Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Nubians' defense has only allowed 9.9 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
