Fans got a thrill when Justin Tyler and Shannon Royster connected against Africentric Early College. The connection was good for 79 yards, the longest such play in Columbus City - South this season.
Eastmoor Academy moved up to 334 from 362 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of besting South 42-28.
Marion-Franklin's dynamic duo of Tyler and Royster proved to be unstoppable against the Nubians, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tyler threw for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns and Royster had 79 yards receiving. Quimell Spivey helped Marion-Franklin's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 35 yards.
DeAnte' Townsend was a force in the backfield as Independence defeated Briggs.
Townsend was a passing and rushing force as the 76ers topped the Bruins. Townsend's favorite target this week was Iman Lowery, who caught 3 passes for 22 yards.
Independence's offense has been unstoppable this season and the 76ers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Anthony Bange has thrown for 538 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Lowery has 23 catches for 226 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Eastmoor Academy takes on Walnut Ridge. James Miranda's team is in third place, while the Scots are in second place.
Independence took down Briggs 84-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Townsend ran for 239 yards in the win.
