Indianapolis Scecina Memorial is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Beech Grove on Monday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 26-1.
Indianapolis Scecina Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayley Campbell, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Sydney Gilbreath also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Covenant Christian). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Heritage Christian on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Marissa Silva and Ariannah Jones were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Silva struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Jones pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Silva has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Silva scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Jones scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmy Nottingham, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Julia Hoffman, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Covenant Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
The win got Covenant Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
