Baseball Game Preview: Stuart Hall Knights vs. University Red Devils

Stuart Hall is 2-8 against University since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will challenge the Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Stuart Hall comes in on 13 and University on 14.

On Friday, Stuart Hall made easy work of Lick-Wilmerding and carried off a 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between University and Urban, and University kept the tradition alive. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Blues with a sharp 14-1 win on Friday. The Red Devils are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 13th contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

The team relied heavily on Mattie Grisso, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Jett Messenger was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in 16 consecutive games.

University's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Stuart Hall, their record is now 13-0.

Stuart Hall came up short against University in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
