Softball Recap: Lone Pine Golden Eagles vs. Tonopah Muckers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Lone Pine was happy to have turned things around in Saturday's second game. They came out on top against the Tonopah Muckers by a score of 20-17. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Allisson Villa was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Yesenia Alegre, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and a double.

On Tonopah's side, Savanna Muns put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits. Muns was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played.

In other batting news, Liberty Deck and Gabrielle Strozzi stepped up to the plate in a big way. Deck scored four runs and stole five bases while going 5-for-5, while Strozzi scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Taylor Thomas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Tonopah didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 15 strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Lone Pine's win bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Tonopah, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-7.

Lone Pine will be playing in front of their home fans against Mojave at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Tonopah, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Mineral County at 1:00 p.m. Tonopah knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Mineral County likes a good challenge.
