Basketball Game Preview: Shalhevet Firehawks vs. Price Knights

Shalhevet and Price are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2021, but not for long. The Shalhevet Firehawks are taking a road trip to take on the Price Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shalhevet knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Price likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Shalhevet beat Milken 55-46.

Meanwhile, Price got the win against King/Drew on Saturday by a conclusive 64-39. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shalhevet better focus on containing Ace Simon and Keshrey Smith, Jr as the pair were huge in Price's win. Simon posted 16 points and five rebounds, while Smith, Jr earned eight points and 12 assists. Simon has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrell Miller, who scored ten points and seven boards.

Price's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Shalhevet, their record is now 16-11.

Shalhevet couldn't quite finish off Price when the teams last played back in January and fell 53-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Simon, who put up 19 points. Now that Shalhevet knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
