Basketball Recap: Pentwater's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

It was fun while it lasted, but Pentwater's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Marion Eagles by a score of 57-55. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 59-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Pentwater lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mikey Carlson, who went 10 for 23 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonny Arnouts, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Even though they lost, Pentwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pentwater fell to 6-1. As for Marion, they pushed their record up to 2-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pentwater will take on Bear Lake in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bear Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Marion, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mason County Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
