Baseball Game Preview: Collinwood Trojans vs. Wayne County Wildcats

The Collinwood Trojans will face off against the Wayne County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Collinwood has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Collinwood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hampshire just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 16-6 to the Hawks.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wayne County took on Hardin County on Friday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 12-10. Like the Trojans, the Wildcats also had to let a streak go: they had won four straight, but that streak is no more.

Wayne County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Bevis, who fired off three home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 4-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that Bevis has launched this season. Jacan Floyd was another, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Wayne County now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Collinwood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Collinwood took their victory against Wayne County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
