Fairfield fell victim to Cardinal and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Fairfield dropped their record down to 7-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cardinal, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Fairfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-3 loss against Chariton on the 14th. Cardinal has also already played their next match (against Central Lee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
