Collierville dropped their record down to 22-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Huntington Beach Oilers, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Dragons have suffered since May 15, 2024.

As for Huntington Beach, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games.

For Huntington Beach's part, Jared Grindlinger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Grindlinger was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Trent Grindlinger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Trevor Goldenetz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Collierville has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Regis Jesuit on the 11th. As for Huntington Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Trinity Christian Academy on the 11th.
