Preview: Xavier Knights vs. Fordham Prep Rams
After both having extra time off, the Xavier Knights and the Fordham Prep Rams will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Xavier is ranked 116th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 135th).
Xavier fell victim to Moore Catholic's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Mavericks, falling 28-0. Xavier's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Fordham Prep and St. Peter's squared off in some playoff action last Saturday, but sadly Fordham Prep had to settle for second. Fordham Prep's tough 40-20 loss to St. Peter's might stick with them for a while. The matchup was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but Fordham Prep couldn't answer the 20 points St. Peter's scored afterwards.
The losses dropped Xavier to 7-4 and Fordham Prep to 5-5.
Xavier ended up a good deal behind Fordham Prep in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 41-25. Thankfully for Xavier, Charlie English (who rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
