Volleyball Game Preview: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. High Tech SD Storm

The Mission Bay Buccaneers are taking a road trip to take on the High Tech SD Storm at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. High Tech SD took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Bay, who comes in off a win.

Mission Bay took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Canyon Hills by a score of 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 25-12, 25-14.

Mission Bay's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zeth Abelman, who had 21 digs and six assists, and Henry Gildehaus, who had six digs and four aces. Those six assists gave Abelman a new career-high. Gavin Ragusa also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, High Tech SD was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to University City.

While High Tech SD was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.

Mission Bay has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. High Tech SD's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mission Bay came up short against High Tech SD when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Mission Bay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
