Recap: Belle Chasse Cardinals vs. Riverdale Rebels
This season hasn't been kind to the Belle Chasse Cardinals, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were beaten by Riverdale 56-27 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Belle Chasse can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Riverdale is ranked 92nd).
Despite the loss, Belle Chasse still got an impressive performance from Sanai Salvant , who scored 15 points. Salvant scored a full 55.6% of Belle Chasse's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaedynce Cooks was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Belle Chasse bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.4 points per game. As for Riverdale, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belle Chasse will take on Kennedy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Riverdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy of Our Lady at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
