Recap: Belfry Pirates vs. Pike County Central Hawks
The Belfry Pirates lost against the Pike County Central Hawks back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Belfry received a tough blow as they fell 53-36 to Pike County Central. Belfry has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Belfry lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jenna Sparks. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Sparks is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Belfry has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Pike County Central, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Belfry will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Grundy at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Grundy is ranked 163rd in Virginia, while Belfry is ranked 169th in Kentucky). As for Pike County Central, they will be playing at home against Shelby Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
