Basketball Game Preview: West Cowboys vs. Walnut Ridge Scots

West hasn't had much luck against Walnut Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The West Cowboys will welcome the Walnut Ridge Scots at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, West had to suffer through a 78-30 loss at the hands of Africentric Early College. The game marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walnut Ridge). They claimed a resounding 93-32 win over Marion-Franklin. The victory was familiar territory for the Scots who have now won four matches in a row.

Walnut Ridge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Things could have been worse for West, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 88-71 loss to Walnut Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for West, Lj Foster (who went 7 for 14 on his way to 25 points and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
