Basketball Game Preview: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Tucker Tigers

Southwest DeKalb is 0-3 against Tucker since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Southwest DeKalb Panthers take on the Tucker Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Southwest DeKalb beat Marist 62-55. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the War Eagles are ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwest DeKalb found their leader in sophomore Jackson Ushery, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Burks, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points.

Meanwhile, Tucker had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.4 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 72-44. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Tucker is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.1 points per game. As for Southwest DeKalb, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
