Baseball Recap: Whitko Comes Up Short

After flying high against Argos on Tuesday, Whitko came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 6-3 to the Northfield Norsemen on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Norsemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Daton Day spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Harman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Ethen Morris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Northfield, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.

Looking ahead, Whitko will be taking part in a tournament against Elwood at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Northfield, they will challenge Mississinewa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
