Basketball Recap: Putnam County Takes a Loss

Putnam County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Indian Creek Timberwolves on the road by a 46-30 margin. The Panthers lost against the Timberwolves in their previous head to head back in March of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 90-48 score last time.

Indian Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Everett Willis, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Willis a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Hueber, who had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Indian Creek, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Putnam County and Earlville will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Indian Creek, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wethersfield at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
