Allen and Plano East are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Allen Eagles will host the Plano East Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Tuesday, everything went Allen's way against McKinney Boyd as Allen made off with a 7-1 win.
Morgan Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashtyn Kotaska, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Liu, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Plano East waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Allen, Plano East also got a great game from a two-way player: Jadyn Dawson. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Dawson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple.
In other batting news, Julia Wilson was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Chloe Lee was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Plano East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive contests.
Allen's victory bumped their record up to 8-12-1. As for Plano East, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
