Volleyball Recap: Hilltop Takes a Loss

Hilltop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Diego Academy Cavaliers.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hilltop sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-21, 17-25, 29-27, 17-25, 15-13.

San Diego Academy was led to victory by Dustin Jewell and Jason Love. Jewell had 40 assists and 17 digs, while Love had 12 digs and ten kills. Jewell is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for San Diego Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Coming up, Hilltop will head out to take on Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Diego Academy, they will take on Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
