Basketball Game Preview: Choctaw County Chargers vs. Mooreville Troopers

The Choctaw County Chargers will square off against the Mooreville Troopers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Choctaw County comes in on three and Mooreville on eight.

Choctaw County is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing East Webster: they outscored them in every quarter. Choctaw County was the clear victor by a 69-48 margin over East Webster on Tuesday. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mooreville hadn't done well against Nettleton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mooreville claimed a resounding 57-30 win over Nettleton. Given the Troopers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Tigers are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mooreville has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Choctaw County, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Choctaw County against Mooreville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 51-21 win. Will Choctaw County repeat their success, or does Mooreville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
