Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Wins for Harrison

Harrison came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Yorktown Huskers. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Madison Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 12 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, BarBara Jo Coppola was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Vasti, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Harrison pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Yorktown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Harrison will host Byram Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yorktown, they will head out to take on Arlington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
