Basketball Recap: Kelsey Hayes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ramsey over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg

Ramsey lost against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ramsey Rams received a blow as they fell 46-27 to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg are ranked 236th).

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelsey Hayes, who posted seven points and 21 rebounds. That's the most boards Hayes has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daisy Allen, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ramsey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Ramsey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.

Ramsey will head out to square off against Edinburg/South Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-47 victory against Meridian on the 4th.
