Basketball Recap: Brennan's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

If Brennan was feeling good fresh off their 70-49 takedown of Warren last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brennan Bears fell 60-50 to the Sotomayor WILDCATS on Wednesday. The Bears' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Flemings, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alayna Perez, who posted 11 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Brennan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Sotomayor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Pete, who earned 20 points. Pete is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Jah'Dae Bussey was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Brennan's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Sotomayor, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8.

Brennan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-39 victory against Harlan on the 11th. Sotomayor has also already played their next contest, a 58-46 win against O'Connor on the 11th.
