Soccer Game Preview: Beddingfield vs. Smithfield-Selma

The Beddingfield Bruins will square off against the Smithfield-Selma Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Beddingfield's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Greene Central as Beddingfield made off with a 5-0 victory. It was an even better day for Iris Martinez as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Smithfield-Selma brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past Knightdale 8-0 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The victory made it two in a row for Beddingfield and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two games. As for Smithfield-Selma, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Beddingfield might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Smithfield-Selma in their previous matchup back in March of 2015. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Beddingfield was down 4-0.
