Baseball Recap: Whitewater Wins Going Away Against Parkview

There's no place like home for Whitewater, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Parkview Vikings on Friday. The contest marked the Whippets' most dominant win of the season.

Christian Aranda made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Aranda was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Whitewater let Matthew Carollo and Carson Petitt run wild. Carollo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Petitt went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Petitt is becoming a predictor of Whitewater's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Emmett Spear, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Whitewater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Whitewater's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-8 record. As for Parkview, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Whitewater has already played their next matchup, a 20-5 defeat against Monroe on the 29th. As for Parkview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-0 win against South Beloit on the 26th.
