The Sedan Devils will challenge the Caney Valley Bullpups at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sedan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Sedan couldn't beat Oxford on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Devils came up short against the Wildcats, falling 17-6.
Kenzie Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Darnall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Caney Valley had to kick off their season on the road last Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Sedan 17-2.
Bryleigh Rigdon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Rigdon was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Caney Valley got a massive performance out of Aiva Price, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Molleigh Kaminska was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Caney Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sedan only posted an OBP of .250.
Sedan has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Caney Valley, their record now sits at 1-0.
Sedan might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Caney Valley in their previous meeting last Friday. Can the Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
