It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Anchorage had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Colony Knights as they made off with an 8-2 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Millicent Wurst made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Molly Stone was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Adriana Jones, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
South Anchorage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colony struck out 15 times.
The win made it two in a row for South Anchorage and bumps their season record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Colony, they moved to 34-9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.
As of now, neither South Anchorage nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
