The Cedar Valley Aviators will head out on the road to take on the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Cedar Valley made easy work of Timpview and carried off a 9-1 victory. The Aviators haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Cedar Valley got a great performance from Graidy Webster as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Ayden Laws was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Cedar Valley is 4-1 when Laws posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ashton Pincock, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Cedar Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Spanish Fork. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.
The result came thanks to Jeremiah Hall's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maple Mountain's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mick Winward, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
The victory got Cedar Valley back to even at 6-6. As for Maple Mountain, their record now sits at 12-1.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cedar Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Maple Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cedar Valley came up short against Maple Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Aviators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
