Basketball Recap: Grant Starts off Right with Win over Chavez

Grant had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by the Chavez Eagles to the tune of 118-11. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 68-2.

Grant was led to victory by RONALD MERRILL and ANDREW BERRY. MERRILL went 9 of 10 en route to 21 points and seven steals, while BERRY dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave BERRY a new career-high. Another player making a difference was NOAH LETT, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Chavez is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Grant will take on Viewpoint in a tournament on December 20th. As for Chavez, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
