Churchill County is 8-2 against Fernley since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Greenwave will face off against the Vaqueros at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Churchill County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Lowry to the tune of 56-9 two weeks ago. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Greenwave just coasted through the last quarter.

Carson Melendy had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 136 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles and defending one pass. Camden Richardson was in the mix as well, providing Churchill County with two scores.
Churchill County didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lowry to a completion percentage of just 45.7%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from six players: Melendy, Alijah Juarez, Angel Quezada, Brenan Alves, Wyatt Dixon, and Drake Rowlett, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Churchill County; they were averaging 61.6%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 61.6%.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Churchill County, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Richardson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fernley walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Buckaroos with a sharp 50-28 victory on Thursday. 50 seems to be a good number for the Vaqueros as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Churchill County better keep an eye on Keeshawn Love. He was instrumental in Fernley's win, rushing for 269 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Love's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 19th straight game with at least 118 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Fernley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.6 points. As for Churchill County, their record now sits at 9-1.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Melendy and Love. Melendy just won't slow down this season and has run in 16 touchdowns while averaging 108 rushing yards per game. Love has been a dominant force too and has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 188.8 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Churchill County against Fernley in their previous meeting back in October, as the squad secured a 42-15 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Love, who rushed for 178 yards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Greenwave still be able to contain Love? There's only one way to find out.
