Football Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Chaparral faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Pumas took a blow against the Huskies, falling 60-29. The defeat continues a trend for the Pumas in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, don't look at Michael ( Kiko ) Farinas. Despite the final result, he picked up 140 receiving yards and three TDs. With that strong performance, ( Kiko ) Farinas is now averaging an impressive 103.2 receiving yards per game. Dane Weber was another key player, throwing for 355 yards and four touchdowns.

Centennial was led to victory by Dominick Catalano and Malaki Davis. Catalano threw for 248 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt, while Davis rushed for 72 yards and a pair of scores. That's the most passing yards Catalano has posted since back in August. A healthy portion of Catalano's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Devan Parker, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Chaparral didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-42 win against Chaminade on the 7th. As for Centennial, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Servite at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Davis and Gavin Gutierrez.
