Baseball Game Preview: Timber Creek Regional Chargers vs. Cumberland Colts

The Timber Creek Regional Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Cumberland Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Timber Creek Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Timber Creek Regional's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Deptford 15-0. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Colin Keehn and Tyler McCullough made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Keehn pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, McCullough didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Keehn scored a run while going 2-for-5, while McCullough got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that Keehn scored this season.

In other batting news, Cole Scanlan and Ryan Dobrowolski did most of the damage at the plate: Scanlan scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Dobrowolski went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave Dobrowolski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Traynor, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Timber Creek Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 9-0 to Delsea.

Timber Creek Regional's record now sits at 2-3. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Timber Creek Regional took their victory against Cumberland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
