Baseball Recap: Dixon Bulldogs vs. Southwest Onslow Stallions
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dixon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Southwest Onslow Stallions out 6-5. The win was just what Dixon needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior contest.
Damien Leal looked comfortable as he tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Chase Slomski was excellent, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI. Chris Guslander was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
On Southwest Onslow's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathon Pittman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.
Even though they lost, Southwest Onslow didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.
Dixon's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Southwest Onslow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
