Softball Game Preview: West Middlesex Big Reds vs. Franklin Knights

The West Middlesex Big Reds will take on the Franklin Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither West Middlesex nor Franklin posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for West Middlesex's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercer on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Grove City, falling 12-2.

Abigail Boland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Middlesex has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Franklin's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. West Middlesex has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game.
