Soccer Game Preview: East Bakersfield vs. Riverdale

The East Bakersfield Blades will take on the Riverdale Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with East Bakersfield sitting on seven straight wins and Riverdale on six.

East Bakersfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Woodlake 4-1.

Meanwhile, Riverdale kept a clean sheet against Fresno Christian on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 9-0 victory. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Eagles are ranked 1192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale's offense was hitting Fresno Christian from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Xaidyn Camacho led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

East Bakersfield's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those seven games. As for Riverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

East Bakersfield suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Riverdale in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can East Bakersfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
