The Bay Yellowjackets will face off against the Trumann Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Trumann took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bay, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Bay turned things around against Piggott on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Mohawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since April 23, 2024.
Jaden Dacus made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Hartley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Walters, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Trumann was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 17-2 to Southside.
Trumann saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Hammons, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Hammons has hit this season.
Bay's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Trumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trumann struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
