Volleyball Preview: Upsala Cardinals vs. Osakis Silverstreaks
The Upsala Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Osakis Silverstreaks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Upsala is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Upsala came up short against Bertha-Hewitt and fell 3-1. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 25-22 in the first set.
Upsala started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dakota Soltis, who had 24 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 20 or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corryn McDermond, who had 17 digs.
Meanwhile, Osakis beat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 3-1 last Tuesday.
Upsala's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Osakis, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
