Kyle Cox Dazzles in Sandhills/Thedford Victory
Sandhills/Thedford picked up their 15th consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Kyle Cox. Cox did his part (and then some), rushing for 153 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 51 yards and two touchdowns for the 'W'. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his 19th straight game with at least 119 rushing yards dating back to last season.
If history really does repeat itself, Cox might just drop another big game when he faces off against Mullen on Thursday. Cox rushed for 286 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six passes the last time he and the Broncos duked it out back in October of 2023.

Jesse Reyes Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Jesse Reyes posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Maxwell dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Wildcats faces off against Bayard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Alex Werner Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Alex Werner posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (113) per game.
The win (which was Mullen's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Werner and Mullen will take on Sandhills/Thedford at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Underclassman Beau Rice Comes Up Big Against Bayard
While it always takes a team to win, one person punching above their weight class on Thursday was Beau Rice. Bayard had no answer to Rice as he rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards and a touchdown. Rice's longest reception was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.
The victory got Hyannis back to even at 3-3. Rice and Hyannis will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sandhills/Thedford at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Kvanvig Came Up Big in Mullen's 45-42 Victory
The second Mullen player making an appearance here is Tate Kvanvig, and for good reason. He rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards dating back to last season.
For the season, Kvanvig has run in 13 touchdowns while averaging 92.2 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 40.17 rushing yards per game.
