Basketball Recap: Stratford Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Stratford Academy was the 75-57 winner over Bulloch Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles lost to the Gators on the road by a 58-43 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Gators are ranked 143rd).

When it comes to explaining why Stratford Academy lost, don't look at Landon Gates. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. John Henry Causey also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Leading Bulloch Academy to victory were Akiryon Watkins and JB Roach. Watkins dropped a double-double with 27 points and 14 boards, while Roach shot 53% from the field en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Watkins' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Camden Shingler, who put up four points.

Stratford Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bulloch Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Stratford Academy has already played their next game, a 46-34 loss against Deerfield-Windsor on the 10th. As for Bulloch Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-38 win against John Milledge Academy on the 9th.
