Basketball Recap: Naples Classical Comes Up Short

Naples Classical was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 77-37 defeat at the hands of the Parrish Community Bulls. While losing is never fun, the Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 761st, while the Bulls are ranked 325th).

Parrish Community found their leader in freshman Seth Edwards, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 19 points and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edwards has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dudache Belony, who posted 11 points along with six assists and four steals.

Naples Classical's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Parrish Community, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Naples Classical will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hardee at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th. As for Parrish Community, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-49 win against Imagine School at North Port on the 21st.
