Softball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South lost to Riverside on Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rebels fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by just one run.

Savannah Patton and Jenna Heil did some serious damage despite the final result: Patton went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Heil went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Lucy McNamara was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for South and nudges their season record down to 10-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Riverside, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South will head out to challenge North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will take on Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
