Recap: Oakland Patriots vs. Ravenwood Raptors
The Oakland Patriots won against the Ravenwood Raptors last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Oakland was the clear victor by a 42-18 margin over Ravenwood. Given Oakland's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Ravenwood is ranked 30th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oakland was led to victory by Daune Morris and Ashton Jones. Morris rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while Jones rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Craig Tutt made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Despite the loss, Ravenwood saw an underclassman step up: Davis Dowland rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory was the seventh in a row for Oakland, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.9 points per game. As for Ravenwood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Oakland will take on Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Ravenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Brentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood is on a four-game streak of home wins, Ravenwood a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
