Baseball Recap: Perquimans Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bertie

There's no place like home for Perquimans, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Bertie Falcons on Tuesday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Maddux Thach was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Perquimans is undefeated when Thach posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ben Brown was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Askew, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Perquimans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Perquimans' record is now 8-3. As for Bertie, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Perquimans beat Bertie by a score of 19-3 later that day.
