Recap: Vertus Warriors vs. Gates Chili Spartans

The Vertus Warriors's game on Wednesday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Gates Chili by a score of 61-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (58), Vertus still had to take the loss.

Vertus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Na'Shon Wade, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wade has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talhah Ali, who scored 14 points along with nine assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Vertus were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Gates Chili found their leader in underclassman Joey Vigerzi, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Vigerzi scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Robinson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Vertus has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Gates Chili, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.

Vertus will take on Rochester Academy at TBD on Tuesday. Rochester Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Gates Chili, they will head out on the road to challenge Brighton at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Brighton is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
